Session A - Public Cloud (Day 2)

In this advanced, hands-on class, you will learn about the different components that make up the infrastructures of the top public cloud providers, and the security challenges these environments present, including high availability (HA), auto-scaling, software-defined network (SDN) connectors, and how to manage traffic in the cloud with Fortinet products.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Deploy a FortiGate VM on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure in single, HA, and auto-scaling modes
  • Use Fortinet templates to easily deploy complex environments
  • Deploy FortiWeb in AWS and Azure
  • Use SDN connectors with cloud vendors
  • Integrate other Fortinet services and products with cloud vendors
This is a 2-day course so please make sure to register for the Tuesday and Wednesday sessions.

Session B - Streamlining Automation Using Web Services APIs (FNDN)

As  organizations  transition  to  a  digital  business  model,  virtualization  and  cloud technologies play an increasing role.   Speed, Flexibility, Elasticity and Integration are all critical features that cannot be inhibited when implementing an effective security strategy.  Ultimately it doesn’t matter how fast you can deploy an appliance or VM if configuration is a manual process which requires a heavy administrative touch.

Web  Services  APIs  enable  organizations  to  fully  leverage  the  benefits  of  these  dynamic architectures  while  offering  an  efficient  communications  method  that  promotes  a  robust  and automated   Security   Fabric.      Understanding   the   structure,   function   and   communication mechanisms of these APIs is critical for developing any custom interfaces.

Attend this technical training workshop to gain hands-on experience using Fortinet's extensive API libraries to automate configuration and policy deployment on FortiManager 6.0 and FortiGate 6.0.

Session B - Migrating firewall configurations successfully with FortiConverter

Migrating old, complex device configurations to new, next-generation solutions can be very challenging and require significant amounts of time. It is not uncommon for errors to be introduced during this process. With FortiConverter you can enable a smooth, supported migration experience while automatically eliminating errors and redundant information. The FortiConverter firewall configuration migration tool is primarily for third-party firewall configuration migration to FortiOS—for routing, firewall, NAT, and VPN policies and objects.

Attend this technical workshop to review the latest version of the FortiConverter migration tool. Gain hands-on experience manipulating conversion options and utilizing the features available to ensure successful conversion of your source firewall configurations. Exercises guide your through conversion examples and help you troubleshoot possible conversion issues.

Session C - Secure Wireless and Access Technologies - SDN² - SD-Branch

The WAN and access edges are getting more complicated than ever. Moreover, Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices entering the branch network introduce new vulnerabilities for attackers to exploit. It is becoming critical to deploy next-generation security strategies to support this new paradigm. When deploying a secure access network with Fortinet, you can greatly simplify your configuration and deployment time while significantly increasing the security of your network. The first part of this four-hour session will focus on the SD-Branch access layer components and the hands on lab will let you create a zero touch universal switch port configuration to eliminate the need completely for static VLAN assignments and provide consistent user experience regardless of their connection(wired/Wireless). You will configure this universal port network using a Fortigate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiPhone, FortiAuthenticator and the Smart Connect component.

Requirements:

Each student will need to have a PC with a wired Ethernet port and a wireless client. You should have proper software and knowledge of your device/os to enable 802.1x authentication, configure PEAP-MSCHAPv2 and EAP-TLS.  There is a limited amount of equipment available for this session.  If several people from one company sign up they may be asked to share equipment.

Session D - MSSP Tools

For MSSPs, the growing IT security market represents both an unprecedented opportunity and a challenge. To take advantage of this opportunity, MSSPs must demonstrate the ability to deliver security services more effectively and at a lower cost than enterprise IT security teams.

Fortinet offers a broad portfolio of integrated and automated products that cover network security, cloud security, application security, access security, and also network operations center (NOC) and security operations center (SOC). These products are already being used to strengthen, streamline and deliver established managed services.

Attend this session to learn how to get the most out of centralized management, reporting, & automations tools like FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, FortiDeploy, & Terraform

Session E - Creating a Comprehensive Security Fabric

Today's  new  world  of  networking  requires  a  new  approach  to  security.  One  that simply yet intelligently secures the entire infrastructure. One that delivers full visibility into every viable network segment and the  devices and endpoints behind them. One that can seamlessly integrate with third-party solutions, enabling users to ubiquitously collect, share and correlate threat  intelligence.  The  Fortinet  Security  Fabric  represents  the  first-ever  architectural  security approach designed to dynamically adapt to today's evolving IT infrastructure. This multi-layered approach provides broad, integrated, and automated protection against sophisticated threats.

Attend   this   technical   training   workshop   and   gain   hands-on   experience   configuring   a comprehensive  security fabric  including  Fortinet  products  and  Fortinet  Fabric-Ready  Partner products.
